В международной финансовой статистике используется для выявления относительной величины банкнот, чеков и прочих денежных заменителей, используемых при финансовых сделках, по сравнению с финансовыми операциями в форме краткосрочных вкладов. Исчисляется как отношение количества денег, находящихся в обращении, ко всей денежной массе категории Mi (см. money).
